Brian Hibler: From Student to Owner/Operator

Brian Hibler found himself at a crossroad when he needed to make the decision: stay in his current occupation, or choose a new career path. It was then that Brian decided that the opportunities presented to truck drivers were too good to pass up. He quickly enrolled at Roadmaster Trucking School and went on to obtain his Commercial Driver License.

“I can only speak highly of my training from Roadmaster,” Brian said. “They taught me everything I needed to know and more. I felt very prepared to begin my career as a truck driver.”

Brain graduated with his CDL in October of 2017 and knew exactly where he wanted to start his trucking career. “The Stevens recruiter was amazing, and at the conclusion of his presentation, I knew instantly that I wanted to drive for Stevens. I was also impressed with the state-of-the-art equipment that Stevens offers its drivers. Even though Stevens was far away from my home, I knew that at Stevens I could find my second home.”

Brian attended orientation at Stevens later that month and was placed with a trainer after he completed orientation. Brian stated that his 240-hour over-the-road training was great, and appreciated all of the knowledge passed on by his trainer.

Then, in February of 2018, with the support of his family and from everyone at Stevens, Brian took the next step in his trucking career and joined the Contractor Division. Brian recalls being nervous to sign his lease but knew with all of the support around him, he would be able to succeed.

“The opportunity presented itself, and I wanted to see what I could achieve with this new opportunity,” Brian said. “I knew that if I didn’t sign my lease then, I never would have. I’m so glad I did because it was possibly the best decision I have ever made.”

Since then, Brain has had great success with his trucking career at Stevens. He was not only named the Runner-Up Contractor Driver of the month in May of 2018, but he also purchased his first truck in July of 2019.

“I decided to purchase my truck when I completed my lease because it was not only a new opportunity for me, but it would also offer me more experience in this industry,” Brian said. “I plan to buy more trucks in the future and hopefully have my own fleet under Stevens. I want to offer the same opportunity to others that Stevens has offered to me.”

Brian credits his success to his trainer and his driver manager. “My trainer taught me everything that I needed to know to be a truck driver, and he even inspired me to become a trainer myself. My Driver Manager, Garrett Baeder, always gives me added motivation I need to complete my job every day. He shares tips with me and is my best friend while I’m out on the road.”

Garrett also spoke high praise of Brian. “Brian is one of the hardest working truck drivers on my fleet. He is dedicated to this industry, and is always willing to help in any way he can, whether it’s helping his students, or helping out another driver. He is a valuable asset to Stevens, and I can’t wait to see what he accomplishes in the future.”

Congratulations on all of your success Brian and all of us at Stevens can’t wait to see what you will accomplish next!

Driver Bill Brunke Discusses Career Path

William, or Bill, Brunke recalls being the volunteer chauffeur for all of his friends growing up because he loved driving on the open roads of Orlando, FL. However, that passion for driving took a back seat until a change in professions ignited it up again. Bill quickly acted upon that passion and decided he wanted to become a professional truck driver.

Bill obtained his CDL at Roadmaster in Orlando, FL, and was quick to choose Stevens as his future career. “The instructors at Roadmaster told me about the family atmosphere that Stevens had, and that was the number one thing that really drew me to this company. In the 11 years of driving for Stevens, there has not been a day that I have not felt like part of a family.”

Bill enjoyed the additional training that he received at Stevens and made the decision to convert to the Alliance Contractor Division after receiving motivation from his trainer. “I had heard about the opportunity in orientation, and my trainer was involved with it. I asked him questions about his experience, and he passed along his knowledge. Once I absorbed all of the information, it seemed like a no-brainer to take advantage of this experience, and I am so glad I did.”

Six months after Bill became a solo company driver, he officially converted to a Contractor driver and signed his first lease for his first truck. During this time, Bill also became a trainer because he wanted to help strengthen the next generation of truck drivers. After completing his lease, Bill decided to purchase his truck from Stevens, allowing him to enjoy another opportunity within the company as an Owner/Operator driver. Today, you can find Bill driving through all 48 states in one of his purchased trucks from Stevens.

Bill credits many individuals at Stevens for his success. “Firstly, I would not be here without the guidance of my trainer, Marco Perez. He taught me everything that I still use to this day, and I can still call him with any questions that I have. Second, I have to thank my first trainee, Ralph Jennings. Without him, I would not be the trainer I would be today. My other success comes from Bonnie Dorsey, my Alliance Business Counselor, and Joe Jenkins, my Driver Manager. They are behind me every step of the way and I’m so thankful for them.”

When asked what advice he had for our new drivers, Bill said, “In order to have success in this industry, you must learn patience. You also must always pay attention to all of your surroundings, because you never know what may pop up in front of you.”

When Bill is not driving his trucks, you can find him relaxing at home or tending to his plants in his garden.

Thank you for all of your hard work Bill and we wish you continued success in the future!

William Heissenberg Chose Stevens and Did Not Regret It

Stevens Contractor Division Driver Receives Bonus Check

William Heissenberg dreamed of becoming a professional truck driver ever since he was a young boy. As he grew up, he kept that dream in the back of his mind, determined to achieve it when the opportunity arose. It wasn’t until William was between jobs that he saw it as the perfect time to chase that childhood dream.

Attended CDL Training in Florida

William attended Roadmaster in Tampa, FL for truck driving school and graduated with his CDL in March of 2017. Shortly after graduation, William arrived at Stevens Transport for orientation. William enjoyed the orientation program at Stevens Transport. He knew he was well-informed and set up for success in his over-the-road (OTR) training with his trainer.

Decision To Join Stevens Contractor Division

One month into his training, William decided to join the Stevens Contractor Division. To this day, he considers that to be the best decision he has made in his truck driving career. “Creating my own business with the help of the Stevens Transport Contractor Division has been a dream come true,” William said. “This business has not only helped further my career as a truck driver but has pushed my childhood dreams to heights I could have never imagined.”

In July 2017, William signed his first lease and obtained the keys to his very own truck. Since then, William has traveled all across the country, delivering loads for Stevens’ prestigious customers. As a result, he has traveled to 48 different states. William’s hard work and dedication were recognized in February of 2019 when he was awarded Owner/Operator of the Month.

William stated that his success is due largely in part to his self-motivation and self-perseverance. “I have instilled a work ethic in myself that I believe has gotten me to where I am today,” William said. “I always tell myself that I won’t see results if I don’t put in hard work every day. I also know that many people depend on me to deliver my loads on time, and that is a greater push for me to complete my daily tasks.”

Milestone Reached: First Truck Lease Completed

William reached another successful milestone in July 2019 with Stevens Transport when he completed his lease on his first truck and received a lease completion bonus of over $5,600. “I have decided to keep my truck and re-sign another lease,” William said. “I know that I have support from everyone on the Contractor Division team, and I am determined to stay with Stevens Transport for as long as I can!”

William’s Driver Manager, Ramsey Fleckenstein, spoke high praise of William. “William is one of my hardest-running drivers on my fleet,” Ramsey said. “He is always willing to go out of his way to help another driver and loves to pass along valuable knowledge to anyone that asks him a question.”

When William is not delivering loads in his truck, he spends his home time with his two children and loves to explore his hometown of New Port Richey, FL. “My children are my world, and I love the time I get to spend with them,” William said. “Their favorite places are the different amusement parks around town and Chuck-E-Cheese, so that’s where we usually are when I’m home.”

Thank you for all of your hard work William and we wish you continued success in the future!

D’Andre Binns: A Stevens Success Story

Alliance Contractor Receives His Bonus Check

D’Andre Binns has made huge strides in the truck driving industry since joining Stevens as a driver only a year and a half ago. On July 17, 2019, D’Andre completed the lease on his truck and secured the keys to his very own 2020 Kenworth. He has now joined the ranks with other Owner-Operators at Stevens.

“I’m very excited to venture on this journey with Stevens,” D’Andre said. “I am finally seeing the fruits of my labor come into effect, and I am eager to see where this journey will take me.”

Completed CDL Training At Careers Worldwide

D’Andre’s truck driving career began at Careers World Wide in Keenesburg, CO in January of 2018. Even though he was in school on his birthday, D’Andre enjoyed spending time with his classmates learning everything he could about an industry he was passionate about. A month later, D’Andre graduated with his CDL. He headed to Stevens Transport’s headquarters in Dallas, TX for orientation, and to complete his over-the-road (OTR) training with a Stevens trainer.

“My first trainer, Patrick Brown, really taught me everything about this industry, this job, and the opportunities that I could explore at Stevens,” D’Andre said. “I was so glad to have him as a trainer, and I’m still in contact with him today.”

Patrick was a Lease Operator at Stevens and his second trainer was an Owner Operator with a fleet of three trucks. Seeing the success that both of these trainers were experiencing, D’Andre signed his lease when he came back to the yard. It was only a few months later when D’Andre decided It was his turn to make an impact on new drivers and became a trainer.

D’Andre is an amazing trainer and I have heard nothing but positive comments about him from his students.

– Sean Hunter, D’Andre’s Driver Manager

“D’Andre is an amazing trainer and I have heard nothing but positive comments about him from his students,” Sean Hunter, D’Andre’s Driver Manager, said. “D’Andre is someone who will go out of his way to help anyone and I am lucky to have a driver like him on my fleet.”

D’Andre is also one of the many drivers who are part of a dedicated fleet. This fleet allows drivers the opportunity to deliver goods to a variety of customers in a 3-to-5-state region. “I have been fortunate to be a part of both the Kraft and Perdue dedicated fleets, and I’ve loved both of them,” D’Andre said. “The teams around these fleets are terrific, and they always keep me rolling.” This route passes right through D’Andre’s hometown, so he is always able to stop and see his children, which he loves!

Future Plans as a Fleet Owner

As for his future, D’Andre stated that he has a goal of owning a fleet with 10-20 trucks and he has no plans to deviate from his goal. “I know that I can achieve this goal, and I know I will have the support from everyone at Stevens to help me along the way,” D’Andre said.

When D’Andre is not driving, you can find him spending time with his children, watching football (especially his favorite team, the Chicago Bears), or playing video games.

Congrats on all of your success D’Andre and all of us at Stevens wish you continued success in the future!

Timothy Ashby Makes Plans For New 2020 Peterbilt

Credits the Support of His Driver Manager & Business Counselor

Timothy Ashby always dreamed of becoming a truck driver ever since he was a young boy. After working in the same factory for most of his adult life, Timothy decided that it was time to act upon that dream.

Timothy obtained his CDL by attending truck driving school at the Truck Driving Institute in Indianapolis, IN and joined Stevens in April of 2017. Timothy enjoyed the training he received from both Stevens Transport and the Truck Driving Institute and believed left for his over-the-road (OTR) training with his trainer feeling very well prepared for any obstacle he was going to face.

A month into his OTR training, Timothy made the decision to join the Contractor Division at Stevens Transport. When asked why he joined the Contractor Division, Timothy said “My trainer was very instrumental in helping me make that decision. He was an Owner Operator and passed along very insightful information about the program during my training. I decided to give Will [Byrd], the Alliance Business Recruiter, a call and the rest is history.”

The support that I have received from everyone else at Stevens has been amazing and I could not picture myself anywhere else!

– Timothy Ashby, Stevens Contractor Division Driver

Two years later, Timothy achieved a huge milestone by completing his lease. “None of the success I have achieved today would have been possible without my trainer, the Driver Managers I have had, and Mike [Sommer], my Business Counselor,” Timothy said. “The support that I have received from everyone else at Stevens has been amazing and I could not picture myself anywhere else!”

As for his future plans, Timothy plans to lease another truck, more specifically a 2020 Peterbilt. Timothy also advises new drivers to have patience and to tackle every obstacle head-on because “there will be gold at the end of the rainbow”!

Congrats on your success so far Timothy and we can’t wait to see what else you will accomplish in the future!

Contractor Loves Visiting New Places

Keith Prince attended Ranger College in Abilene, Texas for his CDL training. He wanted a stable career where he could see the country and decided that truck driving was the perfect fit. The familiarity of places he has been and the excitement of visiting new locations are what made him decide to obtain his CDL.

Keith’s favorite thing about driving at Stevens is the support staff and driver managers that keep his wheels moving. He also enjoys being able to see the country in his Stevens truck, outfitted with the best technology in the industry, and set to the highest quality standards, which keeps him on the road, and out of the maintenance shop.

The best thing about Stevens Transport is the support staff that each driver has. They make sure your equipment is top-notch. And make sure you keep you wheels turning. It’s a great place to build a successful trucking career.

– Keith Prince

He advises new drivers to never get complacent, and always remember your training. He explains that the most important part of the job is to keep yourself and the motoring public safe, which is where remembering this training is essential. He explains that the emphasis on training and safety a Stevens Transport has allowed him to do his job safely and efficiently since he joined the company more than 2 years ago.
